Sunslates Roofing Tiles

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Most of the solar panels I’ve seen on people’s houses are big bulky things that look very out of place on top of their roof.  I recently came across this company that produces roofing tiles called Sunslates that are also solar panels.  Looks much better.

Wedgewood House

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

This is a new post and beam style house in the Ten Mile Point/Wedgewood Estates neighbourhood of Victoria, BC. I’ll be very surprised if this house doesn’t win some awards over the next year. This is a great example of modern Pacific Northwest architecture.

I spotted this magazine ad for Behr wood stain.
It has an awesome modern cedar deck in the ad, so I thought I’d post it here.

Vinterra at Morgan Heights

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

Vinterra is a development in South Surrey, BC

This architecture is a most welcome change from the ubiquitous poorly designed fake craftsman style that has been the status quo for housing developments over the past few years. More proof for my thinking that we might be in the early stages of a major change to a more modern West Coast style becoming popular.

Vinterra was designed by Gomberoff Bell Lyon Architects of Vancouver

Post and Beam Perfection

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

One of the great things about post and beam framing is how it allows large open spaces, as well as large windows, which gives you plenty of natural light.
